We had a blast testing our high-performance catalytic converters on the 2014 6.2L Ford Raptor. Straight off the showroom floor, Ford delivers a production truck with unparalleled performance on-road and off. The truck we tested had a completely stock motor and exhaust system, which allowed us to establish a solid baseline.
First we tested stock horsepower and torque on a Dynojet dynamometer and got 333.24 horsepower and 376.43 foot pounds of torque. We then installed our proprietary 6.2L Metallic Herringbone High-Performance Catalytic converters and retested the truck. The ACAT equipped Raptor upped the horsepower to 348.18 and the torque to 384.96, that’s a gain of +14.94 HP and +8.53 FT-LB to the rear wheels.
Gains were not only in power. We also improved MPG. The stock truck saw City at 10 MPG and Highway at 14. Once ACAT equipped, we gained +2 City (to 12 MPG) and +3.5 Highway (to 17.5 MPG). On top of that we delivered superior emission reduction along with OEM durability.
ACAT gains are possible because of their patented Metallic Heringbone substrate design. The converters work by forcing the exhaust gasses through a “turbulent maze”, which increases the catalyst’s surface area and more efficiently controls emissions. Our catalytic converters can be smaller/lighter and constructed with lower cells per square inch (CPSI), substantially improving flow and reducing backpressure. ACAT’s design reduces noise vibration and harshness (NVH), which means mufflers can be much smaller or eliminated all together. Smaller mufflers or no mufflers, result in even better flow, even less backpressure and even more weight reduction.
We offer the 5” round units in both 2.50 inch and 3.00 inch inlet/outlet options. You or your exhaust man can discuss the ideal size and placement of the converters best for your intended use.
These Federal universal cats are not legal for sale, installation or use with licensed vehicles in California or other states that have adopted California Air Resource Board (CARB) emission requirements. However, we are developing direct fit units and will be seeking CARB approval on them. Additionally, we will be releasing performance headers, mufflers and total exhaust systems for F-150s soon. We will announce certification and new product releases ASAP.
